🌴 How to Play the Belize Word Game 🐢

The Goal

Guess the secret word before you run out of tries. Every word is about Belize or everyday life — animals, food, nature, the sea, home and school (like RIVER, MANGO, TAPIR, TOUCAN and JAGUAR).

Setting Up

At the top of the game, choose your Level:

• Easy – 4-letter words (great for beginners)
• Standard – 5-letter words
• Challenge – 6- and 7-letter words
• Teacher list – words chosen by your teacher

You can also pick a Topic: Animals, Food, Nature & sea, or Home, school & culture.

The Buttons

• 🎲 New word – start again with a new word.
• 💡 Hint – press once to see a picture and a clue. Press again to get a letter.
• 🔊 Read to me – hear the clue and the letters you typed.
• ⛶ Full screen – make the game bigger.

How to Type Your Guess

• Tap the letters at the bottom, or use a real keyboard.
• Each letter fills one box. The orange box shows where the next letter goes.
• Press ENTER to check your word.
• Made a mistake? Press ⌫ to delete a letter.

Reading the Colour Clues

• 🟩 Green with ✓ – right letter, right spot. Keep it there!
• 🟨 Yellow with ● – the letter is in the word, but in a different spot.
• ⬜ Grey – the letter is not in the word.

The letter keys change colour too, so you can see which letters you already tried.

How Many Tries Do You Get?

You get 6 guesses. Your teacher can change this to 8 or 10 in ⚙️ Settings.

A Quick Example (Standard Level)

The secret word is RIVER.

• Guess MANGO → ⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ (none of these letters are in the word)
• Guess RULER → 🟩⬜⬜🟩🟩 (R, E and R are in the right spots)
• Guess RIVER → 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 You win! 🎉

Settings That Can Help

• Show the first letter – the first letter is filled in for you.
• Say each letter out loud – hear every letter you type.
• Bigger letters and Easy-read letters – make the game easier to read.
• Calm mode – turns off movement and animations.

For Teachers

Open 👩‍🏫 Teacher tools and create a PIN the first time. Type one word per line (4–7 letters) and add a hint after a dash, like mango – A sweet orange fruit. Press Save & play this list. Lists are saved on that device, so use 🔗 Copy share link and open the link on each classroom computer or tablet.

When the Game Ends

You will see the word and its picture. Press ▶ Play again for a new word, or 🔊 Hear the word to hear it spelled out. Your stars 🌟 and words in a row 🔥 are shown at the top.
